Dietetics is the science that studies the correct diet of the living organisms,
on the basis of their physiopathological requirements. Every living organism,
according to the age, to the sex, to the pathological and physiological state,
to the climate and to the geographic position in which it lives and according
to other factors, needs a particular type of diet. Biochemistry, Phyasiology
and Pathology interact therefore with the Dietetics, to whose basis there is
both the correct equilibrium in the contribution of proteins, lipids, glucides,
vitamins and mineral salts, and the corrected measurement of the energetic
value of the alimony to give at the living organisms. Terms as calories, caloric
contribution, vitamins, nutritive calculus, dietetic tables, are only some between
those mainly recurrent in this very important scientific discipline. Really a correct
diet is sure at the basis of a healthy life. Many pathologies, also serious, derive
from a bad diet, and on the contrary, the restoration of a balanced diet is good
for the cure of a great number of pathologies. Dietetics is moreover one of the
foundations of the preventive medicine, as it maintains the persons in optimum health.
