The Sperm Bank is a particular structure, where there are suitable rooms, operators and equipments used for the cryopreservation of gametes. The Sperm Bank carries out mainly two functions, that is the collection of the donation of gametes, destined to the heterological techniques of aided medical procreation, and the cryopreservation of the gametes for one's future use, called also technique of self-preservation. Therefore the Sperm Bank collects and preserves the seminal liquid both of anonymous donors, and of singled out in sure way persons, that mean to use their sperm in future for their procreation.

In this tale it is written also about Ovules Bank. Really the fact of explanting an ovule and of preserving it cryogenicly, presupposes a real surgical operation, unlike the facility of the technique of the sperm sample, so this kind of difficulty, at the current level of the medicine, does not allow the spread of this medical practice in order to create some ovules banks of big dimensions, also if theoretically this would be possible. In August of year 1998 it has caused much sensation the news, carried from all mass media, of the decision of an english businesswoman to freeze even an her embryo, explanting it from her body, with the purpose to make it being born after approximately ten years, for reasons tied to her career in the business world...
